  1. Hi. I am from MTH244. We got a puzzle to solve. I finished them all exept one. I cannot get hold of my partners.

Can you give me the answer or a clue to 20 across? (a statement or a claim about a property of some population) 10 letter word. Its not inferential statistics...

    Please help

  2. Hi I am also from Mth 244. I got everything except for 6 down. (A variable not in a study but effects the variables int he study. Rhymes with "clerking".) I would really appreciate some help.

  3. The key to 20 across is the word "claim".
    Consider, "A scientist will formulate a __________ ."
(See the clue for 13 down)

Also to others in the class: Please do not just give away answers to class problems to classmates. People need an opportunity to reason answers out for themselves. You're not really helping them when you take that opportunity from them.

  6. On 15 Down, think about the man-made body of water some people have in their backyards (past tense).

  7. Hey Barry this is Drew from 244. I am stuck on 19 in the crossword. "A sample in ANOVA..." and 7 "A variable whose affect con not be distinguished from another" any additional clues or maybe pages in the supplement to look at would be helpful!
    Thanks!
    Drew

  8. For 19 Across, if a doctor (or nurse) bandages your wounds and gives you medicine to heal, it is said they are -------- the patient. The word you want is a variant of this.
For 7 Across take the phrase "convict finding", use the shortened slang for "convict", and then make the phrase past tense.
Remember, the index can be helpful.

  9. On 7 is it similar to causing surprise or confusion by acting against someones expectations? sneeky like a hidden variable? I think I got it!

  10. Mth 244, Tue-Th, question. why do we need to print anything (labs, activities) if we aren't turning papers in? we are supposed to be doing all assignments is a comp book, right?

  11. Also, when i hit "graph" to produce my histogram on my TI-84 Plus, i get an error report of INVALID DIM.. which i assume is dimension(s).. i don't understand what im doing wrong.

  12. Katie:
On the printing issue, only homework goes in the composition book. You will turn in activities (as a team) and labs (as an individual) as due during the term.
On the graphing issue, the Invalid dimension error occurs most frequently when you are creating a graph from x-values and y-values in two lists in your calculator that have a different number of values (e.g. - L1 has 13 values and L2 has 14 values).

  13. Hi Barry!
I'm Danielle Kinnear From MTH244 at MHCC. I am working on the homework (Problems on Page 15) and I am entering data into my calculator in the same way that the directions indicated for the lab. I am on question 3, the one with the class of 36 students, etc. I hit "Graph", and i get the message ERR:STAT.....I have no clue why. Any ideas?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Sometimes Y= graphs and stat plots don't play nice with each other. Try turning all plots and graphs off except the one you want.

  16. Folks ... there are two sets of data in the EDA lab. Analyze both sets using the instructions of the lab and the lab questions. Adjust the headings of the Lab Report Form as needed.
